Ancillary Task: Final Designs
From the above three we looked at why each one would and wouldn't work as the album artwork, for the first idea ( see top picture) we liked the filter and the background design however we believed that the album needed a central focus and the side on focus was not appropriate for the final product.
For the second design ( see middle picture) we liked the simplicity of it but it was to clear and concise to be appropriated to the concept of the video which is meant to create questioning about what is real and what is merely a trick of the mind. And we felt that this particular design did not fulfil that need.
So we decided that for the front cover of the album the base design was the most appropriate choice as it meets the conventions and creates a strong link between the artist, the brand and the music Video.
Research and Planning: Ancillary Development of Album Artwork Idea 3
For the third idea that we created we decided to spilt the mask and place it on either side of the frame creating a space in between that was filled with the Rose and two candles.
We ran over filters once again to create the best look.
This was the one that best suited this particular layout and we believe it met the conventions for this task as well and the iconography of the band the best.
Research and Planning: Ancillary Development of Album Artwork Second idea
With the second concepts that we came up on we decided to place all three elements on the bottom of the CD and had the band name and the title of the song at the top of the frame.
Once again we placed a series of filters over the design to decide which one we found most preferable in order to meet the conventions of the task as well as to suit the iconography of the band.
This design was the one that we finally settled on as it is simpler yet effective and is the most aesthetically pleasing for this particular layout.

Research and Planning: Ancillary Development of Final Ideas First Idea
The process began with deciding what elements we wanted in the artwork that had a link to the music video and the elements that we believed met the iconography and brand of the band.
The mask is an element that met the iconography of the band the artwork is somewhat to similar artwork that they have used in the past. It is also represents and illustrates, fear, unknowing and has both a variety of negative and positive connotations that meets with the concept of the music video, as "Jenny" represents the negative and "Amy" represents the positive.
The rose symbolises in the video; peace and hope which bring the depressed darker character out her of depression and put her on the step to recovery. So when deciding wether or not to include it in the artwork we came to the decision that is it is a strong symbol in the video and this should carry through in to the album artwork.
Throughout the interior shots the room is lit by candle light and is designed to be the only source of light in a very dark room, it is characteristic of the band and the music video.
Each of the above designs has the mask positioned top left hand corner, the rose placed beneath it and the candle placed bottom right. Each design was tested with different filters out of all of the filters we tested these were the final four for this particular layout we decided on this design( see picture base right) to be a potential idea for the final design.
